September 2018

September was pretty chill; we got into a rhythm of school and work. One of the big things we did was to buy parakeets. Bella had wanted one for a while, and Ryan decided he wanted one too. So the kids own Brazil (green and yellow female) and Ricky (blue and white male). Brazil is very chill and sweet, and Rick is a crazy bird, often squawking more than Brazil and frequently hanging upside off of perches and the swing. We're getting them used to being held (sort of), and having fun with them. As long as we keep Sasha crated while they're out. Sasha is NOT a fan of the birds!

Bella's sense of "style" has always cracked me up. On this particular September day it was chilly, but she didn't want to stop wearing her flip flops. Her solution? Toe socks! Each toe has its own sock and she can still wear her favorite shoes.
And I found out this year that Halloween is her favorite holiday. She would dress head to toe in holiday gear if I let her, and would have every flat surface of the house covered in bats, black cats, spider webs and spooky stuff! Here she is decked out at Walmart.
Ryan has been asking to run the mower this year, so Joshua let him. Ryan loved it (he earned some cash to pay for Brazil), and it freed Joshua up to edge. They were both in landscaping heaven.
Homecoming Weekend! We finally decided to participate. The kids and I walked in the parade. It started off really cold, but the wind settled down, the sun came out, and it ended up being a really beautiful night.

Always a smile!

Ryan's football scene for Crazy Hair Day. We sprayed his hair green like a football field.

And Bella, of course, had to go overboard and even have a hair pretty for her unicorn sprout.

Ready for the game! The Shamrocks lost, but it was fun to be part of high school homecoming fun - haven't done that since 1990!
Someone in the neighborhood posted that  the "Young Eagles Program" was offering free flights for kids. So I roused them out of bed early on a cold morning and surprised them with their first flight. Ryan, being afraid of heights, was NOT thrilled with the idea and kept saying, "I don't want to go." But, being the good mom I am, I forced him. The second the plane landed he yelled, "Again! Again! Again!"

Ryan put up a brave front but Bella was jumping around waiting her turn.

Ready for takeoff!

Two thumbs up!

Their ride.
When we finished we headed to Cabela's to kill some time before going to a Fall Festival at a local nursery. It was the perfect Saturday.
The kids playing with pop guns in Cabela's. I'm sure the employees LOVED us!

Halloween selfie!

Bella drooled over how big this watermelon was!

My punkin sitting on a pumpkin!

There are no words.
Til next time!
