Half-way to one!

I simply cannot believe my little girl is 6 months old! I think I handled turning 30 better than I am with Isabella turning half a year. She has changed my life in ways I never thought possible, and I can't believe that I am so blessed to stay home with my little monkey every day. Even though I get spit up on every single day, I crawl into bed at night with a sore back, my glasses have ever-present grubby fingerprints, and there is laundry to do for her all the time, I wouldn't trade my job for the world. Every morning I'm greeted with a big smile (which now accompanies arm and leg waving so she looks like she's swimming) for about a second before she realizes that the milk machine is here! Getting to play with her is amazing, watching her grow right before my eyes because now she can almost sit up and her manual dexterity is getting better every day. Joshua was impressed when after breakfast, I said, "Hand, please" so I could wipe it off and she promptly placed her chubby hand in the washrag. Amid the day-to-day diaper changes, outfit changes, spit-up, nursing, playing, drooling, reading and non-stop feeding of fruits and veggies and the cleanup that ensues, not a day goes by that I don't smile or outright laugh at the wonderful, joyous bundle that is my little girl.

As Isabella gets older, these photo shoots get tougher. She's more adept at grabbing things, and for some reason, paper just fascinates her. Here's the whole gamut of shots just to get a good one. Personally, this first one my favorite, even if you can't see the sign.

Despite the fact that Isabella has a box-literally!-of hats in her closet, most of them are for when she gets older. She needed something to keep her little noggin warm, so we used her Christmas money from Maga and Papa to purchase this one. It absolutely cracks me up every time I put it on her.

And something else she got for Christmas was her big-girl bathtub. She's okay sitting up and splashing her hands and feet, but she's the happiest when lying down like this, her ears covered by bubbles, making noises and moving around. Definitely NOT afraid of water! Half the time I have to pull her face out of the water because she likes to lick the bubbles. :o)

Food! Glorious food! Here she is giving herself an oatmeal facial. Where she used to stick just her thumbs in her mouth between bites, lately it's been all four fingers up to the knuckle. Go figure.

With Joshua being home over Christmas and New Year's, we got to do several photo shoots with Isabella. I didn't realize how red her hair is getting! And I've noticed that her eyes still haven't gotten their final color-some days they are undoubtedly blue, but in some of these shots they are green, and still other days they turn out hazel. I guess we'll have to wait and see how they end up.

There's a children's book called If You Give a Pig a Pancake. This is "If you give Isabella blueberries." Well, they end up between her eyes, she becomes BlueBeard and it makes quite a nice mess on her jammies! I still haven't found a food that she doesn't like.

Bella's first Christmas was wonderful to watch. Even though she's too small to enjoy it like we do, I still loved watching her try to open presents and stare at the Christmas tree lights. Or maybe just stare at the tree. It was white. It was 7 1/2 feet tall. Maybe it just scared her. In any case, it was visually stimulating. She made a big haul, too! We bought her foam letters for the tub (way too early, but still...), Joshua bought her a Colts sippy cup, Maga and Papa got her the hat, tub, a kneeling bench for me to use with the tub, and a ride-on toy (also early, but on clearance, so we had to carpe toy). Grammy and Grandpa bought her the highchair (a godsend!), a lift-the-flap Bible, a DVD, a bell, and a monkey for her crib. Nana and Papaw are paying her medical bills and starting a college fund for her. Yippie for all the great gifts! (And sorry if I forgot to mention any!)

Here she is kickin' it in her new high chair. She LOVES it because she was always trying to sit up in her carseat. And apparently it tastes good too, because she's always leaning forward to gum the tray. Bonus feature!

The bow on her head is from a package. It looked cute in real life, but now just looks like a festive Aunt Jemima headdress!

More Christmas shots...

And family photo time! These are the first "official" shots of us-can you believe it?!?! Anyway, we sat through a ton and probably got 2 really useable shots-someone was either looking away, drooling, pulling up her dress (ahem! Isabella!) or had their eyes closed.

Because there were just a TON more photos, I decided just to link them in Shutterfly. You can also order prints directly from here, if you want any.

I also made a photo montage for the grandparents and great-grandparents at OneTrueMedia (a great website!). If you can't see it and want to, let me know and I can email you individually.

Bella's 6 month appointment is next Friday, so that's when I'll have updated height and weight info. I can tell you-she's gaining weight just fine, my little starving one!
