Isabella at Month Five!

Welcome to another month of Isabella pictures! I had no idea I was such the shutterbug this past month, but we had a lot going on! Sorry this is so late-Joshua has been working hard so our computer will run better, so I either didn't have access to the photos, or to the Internet, or a combination of the two. And the shots are completely out of order, but I doubt any of you will mind. I also apologize for the quality-my camera is on its last leg, and I'm hoping to save up for a new one in a few months. All that being said, here she is in all her 5-month glory!

Everyone has their own favorite photo of her monthly pictures, so I included them all.

I tried to do this artsy shot that I saw someone else do with their baby and tree. This is Bella's very own tree that's in her nursery. Next year: ornaments!

Although I don't want Isabella to be a TV and video junkie, I felt that the Charlie Brown Christmas Special made my ironing pile more bearable, and would be good for her to see as well!

Her photo shoot one morning. I have more like this, but don't want to get hauled off to jail for showing my naked baby.

THIS was the shot I was going for! However, with Isabella being so inquisitive and grabby these days, it takes several shots to get to what I want. Well, here, you see for yourself:

"Um, hello? Can I like, get a cappuccino or something? That would be great, thanks." Bella in deluxe spa mode after her nightly bath. The little bath shoes just kill me.

I swear I don't purposefully set out to take shots of her in the bath every month, but she keeps doing funny things! Lately, she's learned the magic of bubbles. In this shot she had just finished dunking her face in the water. The whole side of her head was covered with bubbles. And apparently they taste good, too.

You know you've gotten her in the bath too late when she is trying to fall asleep in there! Classic Isabella self-soothing mode: when she's ready for bed-no matter the time or place-she sticks both thumbs in her mouth, clasps her fingers just so, and rolls onto her right side. Time to dry off and get to bed!

Isabella's first view of snow. We only got a few inches, but I ran her out there for a walk in her snowsuit. It wasn't until this past weekend that she actually noticed it snowing outside her window. She stopped mid-babble to stare at it.

Mmm...carrots and sweet potatoes!

"Mom! Put the camera down, grab my blanket and let's go!"

"Hi! This is me waving on my first flight!! We flew home from Kansas City after visiting Maga and Papa. (Thanks, Uncle Richard and Aunts Amy and Jessica for the ride and help in line!) I was a trooper the whole flight-not a cry, and I even slept a bit. I earned my wings!"

Thanksgiving with my Nana, Grandpa Jerry, Grammy, Grandpa, Maga and Papa. They were in this same place last year when they first found out I was on my way!

We were so blessed to be able to spend our first Thanksgiving as a family in our first home, with both sides of our family there. Even though Isabella slept through the meal, she had plenty of fun being passed around to various grandparents, Uncle Jeff, and her cousins. We had a blast making s'mores, playing games (jugador! (inside joke)) and praising God for a year of blessings "exceeding abundantly."

Okay, this one is out of order, but it still cracks me up!

Fun in MO! The day after Thanksgiving we headed to Missouri for a week to see Maga and Papa, and Uncle Richard, Aunt Amy and Aunt Jessica. We all had a blast going shopping, touring museums and exhibits, riding in the golf cart, and of course, meeting Elvis!

My first attempt at giving Isabella pigtails. The jury's still out on this one...

And the end result of having a barrette in your hair all day-one mean mohawk! Hard to see, but it's there!

And this is what happens when you put Isabella to bed without brushing down her hair first. Scary!

And the Christmas shots. The kitty cat hat was so October, so once Thanksgiving was over, we busted out the Santa hat. As always, we get stopped in the grocery and library all the time with people wanting to see the little Santa. She usually graces them with an award-winning smile. What a charmer!

And back to Missouri shots! Here she is with Papa on the golf cart. He'd better be willing to let her drive every time we visit!

We did a little photo shoot in the leaves. Rather than share all 15 or so, I picked out a few good ones. And ones where you can see her! The pile was so big, and she can't quite sit up on her own, so a few times she fell back into the pile and we couldn't see her at all! But, in true Isabella fashion, she didn't fuss.

Giving razzberries. She started doing it a while back, but during our trip to MO, it became her favorite thing-even during the preaching at church!

Cue the Elvis photos! We girls went to see Tony Roi, an Elvis impersonator. He sounded JUST like Elvis! He encouraged people to come up to say hi, so Mom took Bella up to the stage during a song and he gave her a kiss and one of his scarves. He got so tickled by her that he kept cracking up during his song and could barely finish. Sure, it was cheesy, but we really got into it and had a great time. At the photo shoot afterwards, he just hugged on Isabella and said, "Can I take her home with me? I just want to cover her in butter!" I prefer covering her in kisses, but you can't argue with "The King."

Oh! Here's the mohawk picture again. I have no way of flipping it for you, so just tilt your head. ;o)

And that's it! See you again next month! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Before I was a MomBefore I was a MomI never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on.Pooped on.Chewed on.Peed on.I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night. Before I was a MomI never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.Or give shots.I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a MomI never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.Before I was a Mom -I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my bodyI didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry bab y. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy. Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to makesure all was okay.I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, thewonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
