Summer Bucket List 7/9-7/15

This stuff was flour and baby oil (do NOT use the cheap Dollar Tree stuff-it smells!!). It made "cloud dough."

In the bowl it resembled graham cracker crumbs, but when "smooshed" into a cup or ice cream scoop, it compacted. The "ice cream" looked real! (Although sadly, I didn't get any pictures of it.)

Bella enjoyed packing it into her teacups...

And Ryan was going for a sandcastle. He got bored and didn't finish it.

Our next project was to clean pennies with vinegar and salt.

Bella loves pouring!

Ryan, blocking my shot!

The finished result was disappointing. Some got fairly clean, but for the most part, they were just as dirty. Bummer.

Next we did sun prints. We scoured the "hood" looking for items for our picture.

We ended up with a few good things that we left out in the sun while we played...

Add voila! They turned out pretty cool.

The minute I saw "Pillow Sumo Wrestling" online, I knew it would be a hit. The blogger who posted about it had bigger boys so the pillow actually fit under their shirts, but my kids didn't care.

I decided to try strapping them on with some of my scarves. The kids started up at opposite ends of the room...then launched themselves at each other. They loved it!

Of course Bella would sumo wrestle in her flowery skirt.

Ryan's ready for his approach...

THE ICE CREAM MAN!!! Nobody knows our complex is back here, so we've gotten the ice cream man one other time in the five years we've lived here. As soon as I heard the music I rushed down to stop him. Nana was nice enough to buy us all our goodies!

Ryan got a Spiderman treat.

Bella got something to match her dress!

Today's activity: Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest! They look really thrilled, don't they?

Bella told me these were her "watermelon seed spitting contest shoes." Seriously. She cracks me up.

I suppose it's a good thing that my kids don't know how to spit. Bella started off bending over like she was throwing up, and Ryan just spit out his whole mouthful of watermelon.

But they got the hang of it. Here Ryan circles where the seeds went so we can keep track (Naturally, I won, but the kids managed to tie with a respectable distance.)

And while we were outside and it was overcast, we did some sidewalk chalk drawings.

Have a good day!!
