Summer Fun

It's been both relaxing and crazy here at the Hasseld home, but I thought I'd update the pictures.

We went to PBS Kids in the Park one steamy Saturday morning. Bells got to dress up like a doctor and check out a bunny. There were bounce houses and games, giveaways and of course PBS characters. Fortunately we could say, "Hey look! It's Curious George!" without having to wait in the ridiculously long lines to see said characters. We know we won't get off that easily next year.

Bells zips down the slide at the park.

Ryan had fun just walking around pulling up grass.

Me and my little man. Love him!

Ah, the pool. This year we are actually able to enjoy it and it's been a great break on hot days. Isabella is getting much braver now and Ryan doesn't mind floating around in his turtle, but much prefers sitting on the steps and splashing his heart out.

Ryan also likes to freak us out by walking around dangerously close to the edge. But I LOVE his orange surf short and surf shorts-they have a Hawaiian theme.

In a break from our every day routine, we spent one morning just sitting around with the kids in their room. They loved it, and we did too.

This face is going to be the end of me. He flashes me a smile and I'm butter.

And of course, any time spent with Ryan means time spent with Bella. She's such a joy.

Ryan decided to "serenade" the neighborhood one morning by detaching the head from the watering can, then using it as a bullhorn. Had I not been cracking up at him, I probably would have made him stop.

Another museum trip. This time Ryan got to put on a dinosaur costume! I think he's the cutest dino out there.

And the kids enjoyed the "Rock Stars, Cars and Guitars" exhibit. Bells got to dress up like a bobby-soxer, and the kids go for a pretend cruise.

4th of July! We went to the parade (outside our building!) and Bella had a great time (they throw candy) up until the marching bands came by and the fire engines blared their sirens. She HATES loud noises and I ended up taking her home early. But here she is before it starts-all smiles, because she honestly had no clue what a parade was.

Chocolate pudding face. Always fun.

Coming around the corner and flashing his devilish grin. The bump on his forehead was where he fell off the curb at the parade. Ooops! Fortunately he's a tougher cookie than Bella and, after a short cry, was off running around again.

Endless joy for a boy: dirt! I don't have any plants growing there, so I thought I might as well turn it into a play area for the kids. You can see how joyous he is at making a mess. He looks a little goofy in the second shot, but I included it just to show how dirty he was. It was fabulous.

Bella turned three. I can hardly believe how fast this year has gone, and she suddenly seems SO grown up. Her only request was to ride the carousel at the museum because you have to be THREE to ride the ones that go up and down. Jeff, April and Rachel came down to celebrate as well and we had a fabulous two-day birthday extravaganza!

This is Ryan's "splashing face"-eyes closed and mouth wide open. My boys loves him some water!

But we all did. The water table kept everyone busy for almost an hour!

Joshua, Jeff and I built an arch from blocks, and then they took turns goofing around on it.

Bella at the Barbie fashion show. Love the striped theme she carries with dress and purse!

We took turns in the Etch-A-Sketch exhibit. Jeff made a heart! I did a killer straight line (not photographed).

At her request, a green Dora cake with M&M's.

It's always a little spooky for me to see my own face in a picture of Bella. If you give her blonde hair, that's all me!

After the museum and cake it was present-opening time! Her favorite gift by far was the Cars race track Maga and Papa got her (and Joshua had fun putting the layouts together too). She would start to rip off paper from a gift and say, "It's aaaaaaaaaaaa..." before getting to the present. SO cute!

I did NOT stage this picture! But like father, like daughter!
