Isabella Volere has arrived!

This is the short version of the story. :o) The contractions started early Monday morning, so we went to the hospital. Isabella was breech (butt down) so the doctors decided to perform a c-section. Right before she came out she got a big gulp of amniotic fluid and meconium, so that affected her breathing. They brought her over for me to see, and then whisked her off to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). They had her hooked up to an IV, a feeding tube, and a machine to get air into her lungs. By Monday night when I got to see her, she was on oxygen instead of the machine. We got to spend an hour holding her and taking pictures. She was born at 9:23 a.m. weighing 7 pounds 7 ounces and 19 inches long. She has a head of dark hair and deep blue eyes (of course).
By Tuesday, she was off the oxygen completely and doing well. She got to be released to my room on Wednesday and we went home yesterday! We're all adjusting to her schedule, sneaking in naps when we can, and just adoring our little girl.
As for her name, I was reading the book Twilight at the time and really loved the name Isabella, the main character's name. It means God's promise, so that's perfect. I also love the short form, Bella, which means beautiful in Italian. Her middle name (pronounced Vuh-lair) is the name of Joshua's mom and his great-grandma, and goes so well with Isabella.
